Thinking about immigration lately. My father came to US as a baby from a Polish shtetl. He grew up, met my mother and created a comfortable life for us. He worked hard but was also lucky. I wonder...are our fortunes truly in our hands? Maybe. Sometimes things work out OK but you never know.
