A MID-CENTURY FAIRYTALE - 2021

I was inspired by 50’s-60’s magazines and cook books that were directed towards women from that time who were homemakers and believed to have endless amounts of time to prepare elaborate meals including carving radishes to look like roses, etc. Her silhouette was inspired by 18th century theatrical costumes and Marie Antoinette. I added a contemporary twist with the Starbucks. I had this crazy idea that Mom came down from the castle development (which actually exists in Turkey!) looking for her sprouts (children) so they’d come home for dinner but she found they’d spoiled their dinner with one of those addicting sweet drinks from Starbucks.
